Gerald Emerson "Jerry" Barnes, 83, of Lawrence, died Thursday, March 9, 2017.
He was born January 16, 1934, in Cecil, a son of Lee and Doris Hawkins Barnes.
Jerry was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg.
He worked as an Assembler for McGraw-Edison.
On September 21, 1957, he married Barbara Lee Leson Barnes, with whom he shared over 58 years of marriage with until her death,October 29, 2015.
Jerry loved antique cars, was active with the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, the Washington County Buckskinners, and the Friendly Squares. He was a former member of the Covered Bridge Chapter of the A.A.C.A., where he served as President. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed archery, muzzle loading, and was the founder of "The Frontier Shop" taxidermy, in Lawrence.
Surviving are his sons, G. Scott Barnes, and his wife Mary, of Virginia, Timothy M. Barnes, and his wife Geri, of Lawrence; brother, Richard Barnes, of Lawrence; and five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Barnes Lantz.
Friends will be received Sunday, 2-4 and 6-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.
Departing prayer service will be held in the Sollon Funeral Home, Monday, at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, at 10am.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, or a charity of one's choice, in Gerald Barnes's name.
