Sandy Lou Rodd Obituary

Sandra Lou Rodd,  81 of Washington, died Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Sandy was born April 15, 1943 in Canonsburg and was the daughter of James and Betty Young Sollon.  She graduated from Canon McMillan High School in 1961 and went on to obtain a degree from Robert Morris College.  Sandy worked for many years as a legal secretary for several law firms in Washington, PA.

On January 29, 1966, Sandy married the love of her life, John "Jack" Rodd, who died December 28, 2023.  Together they celebrated almost 58 years of marriage.  Jack and Sandy welcomed two sons, and together, along with many furry friends over the years, they created a lifetime of happy memories with family and friends. Sandy was many things to many people.  Baker, chef, party planner, professional shopper and lottery expert, were a few of her many talents, but she was most proud of her titles, Mom and Grandma Sandy.

Sandy had a deep passion for hosting and creating memorable moments for the people she loved.  Her home and summer camper were always the gathering place for friends and family, where laughter echoed and stories were shared. Everything she had, she shared with others and you never left her place without a full belly.  Whether it was a festive gathering or a quiet Sunday afternoon with loved ones, Sandy knew how to make everyone feel special and welcomed.  She had a knack for gift giving and was always thinking of others while she was out shopping. Her hospitality and warmth were unmatched and she leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories for her family and friends.

Sandy's favorite color purple, reflected the boldness and beauty that she brought to every aspect of her life.  It was not uncommon to find Jack, Sandy and her grandchildren all dressed in purple! Sandy also had a whimsical side that included her love for unicorns, a symbol of magic and wonder that she held dear as evidenced by her vast unicorn collection.  Her playful spirit and joyful heart were a reminder to those around her to embrace the extraordinary in every day.  A true lover of freedom and adventure, Sandy had a special fondness for convertibles, enjoying the wind in her signature red hair and the open road beneath her.  Sandy could often be seen driving around town with the top down, sharing laughter and stories with her passengers, making every trip feel like an adventure. Above all, Sandy adored her grandchildren.  They were the light of her life, and she was a constant source of love, guidance and support for them.  Her pride and joy in her grandchildren was evident in every conversation and her love for them knew no bounds.  Christmas and Easter especially, had no limits when it came to the grandkids, much to Jack's dismay.

Sandy's life was a life worth celebrating.  Left to cherish her memory are her sons, John (Leslie) Rodd, of Canonsburg, Jason (Karen) Rodd, of Fredericktown, Maryland; five grandchildren, Arianna Marie, Jason, Brooke, Lauren, & Brody; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
