Paul W. Popeck, 73, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, January 25, 2020, in Sunrise Senior Care Nursing Home.
He was born March 24, 1946, in Canonsburg, son of Frank and Sophia Pokrzywa Popeck. Paul was a lifelong Canonsburg resident where he was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Canon McMillan High School, The Pittsburgh Art Institute, and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Paul was a plasterer and worked with several companies, also with his father and uncles, George and Frank Popeck Plastering Contractors, for several years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his sister Barbara J. (William) Obenchain, of Green Valley, Arizona; brother, Joseph R. (Linda) Popeck, of Libertyville, Illinois; dear friend and companion, Mary Jane Ranney; nephews, Matthew Obenchain, Joe Popeck; nieces, Victoria Obenchain and Ruth Popeck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank J. Popeck.
Friends will be received Friday, 4-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, Supervisor, 724-746-1000. Departing prayer service will be held in the Sollon Funeral Home, Saturday, at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, at 10 am, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg.
Burial will follow in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, with full military rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, post 191, Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, in Paul's name.
