Lillie Mae Mills 89, of Canonsburg, went home to glory on February 21, 2021. She was born April 30, 1931 in Mather in Greene County to Isaac and Geneva Branch Crittendon. She was raised from the age of 9 by Matthew and Susie Stephens of North Charleroi who welcomed Lillie as their only child and daughter. She has said that God always knew what she was going to need at just the right time. As a youth at Mt Sinai Baptist Church, Lillie was very active in the Sunday school and young adult associations in the church and local community. Later as an adult she served as an usher. Lillie graduated from Charleroi High School in 1950. Shortly thereafter she married and became a homemaker and mother of five children. She also sang in the Mon Valley Chorale along with her husband and friends as they traveled and spread the gospel through song in the Mon Valley area. Since moving to Canonsburg and making many friends, she was a longtime active member of Mt Olive Baptist Church, currently under the leadership of Pastor Anita Lovell. Until recently she served as the church clerk and as a participant in the women’s Bible study group. She has stated that that is her church. Prior to her retirement in the 1990’s she worked as a psychiatric aide in the former Mayview State Hospital for over 20 years. She truly had a heart of compassion for the residents who were there. She then began to travel and enjoy life to the fullest. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her only sibling Delores Jean Neal. Surviving and missing her presence are her 5 children. Yvonne Renee (George/Sonny) Lyon of Washington. Katherine Denise (Eric Johnson) Mills of Coraopolis.
