John Serbak, 74, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
He was born June 4, 1947, in Canonsburg, a son of John and Stella Polasky Serbak.
Mr. Serbak was a 1965 graduate of Canon McMillan High School, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965-1968. He served on the USS Okinawa, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He loved to travel, having visited London, Italy, Ireland, and many states in the United States. He was a life time member of the VFW, post 191, and served as Faithful Navigator and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed wood working and he volunteered weekly at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
He was an active and faithful member of St. Oscar Romaro Parish, and attended St. Patrick Church, in Canonsburg.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a communications technician for AT&T, for 32 years.
On August 8, 1970, he married Carol Wudkwych Serbak, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Shawn (Lori) Serbak, of Moon, his daughter, Shelley (James) Brose, of Houston, his brother, Terence (Billie Sue) Serbak, of Washington; his sister, Tina (Paul) Rydzak, of Houston; his granddaughters, the loves of his life, Alyssa Serbak, Kayla and Amelia Brose. He enjoyed spending time and traveling with them. He will be sadly missed by many, including many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday, 2-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service at 5 pm Tuesday, in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in the St. Patrick Church, Wednesday, at 8:30am. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, with full military honors.
