Rose Theresa (Selva) Lowery

Rose Theresa Lowery, 99, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Canonsburg, died Saturday, July 7, 2018. She was born June 27, 1919, in Chickasaw, PA a daughter of Giachino and Margherita Castelli Selva.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a switch board operator for Bell Telephone and subsequently, Western Center.  She was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Canonsburg, where she was a member of the Christian Mother’s Guild.  She was also a devoted volunteer in the blood drives and summer festivals held at the church. In her spare time, she was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and canning.
Surviving are her son, Dennis W. Lowery, of Hudson Falls, New York, her daughter, Donna J. (Michael D.) Roach, of Fort Myers, Florida; two grandchildren, Paul M. Roach and Sarah E. Roach, and two sisters-in-law, Mary DiBattista Selva and Betty Lowery, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Lowery, who died April 16, 2003, brothers Raymond, Renato, and Premo Selva and Paul and Raymond Battista, and sisters Catherine Selva Thomas and Elaine Battista Basso.
Friends will be received Friday, 2- 4 and 6-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000. Departing prayers will be said at 9 am Saturday, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow  in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, McMurray.
