George Coleman, Jr. Obituary

George R. Coleman, Jr., 76, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, April 12, 2018.
He was born March 31, 1942, in Canonsburg, a son of George and Geraldine Alderson Coleman. 
He graduated from Canonsburg High School, in 1960.
He was Presbyterian, and was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Coleman was a Sergeant in the United States Army and proudly served his country as an Airborne Ranger. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 45, Syria Shriners Pittsburgh Lodge, Scottish Right Club of Washington-Greene County, the Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department, and the Pennsylvania State Fireman's Association, where he served as state Chaplain for many years. Mr. Coleman was very active in his community, served on the Canonsburg Council for many years, and was active with many other social and civic organizations. He was a 2012 Washington-Greene County sports hall of fame inductee for his boxing.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as the Hospital Safety Manager at Mayview State Hospital. 
Surviving are his sons, George R. Coleman, III, and his wife Tess, Shawn P. Coleman, and his fiancée Vicki Charlton; brother, Harold "Buddy" Coleman, and his wife Fran, all of Canonsburg; three grandchildren, Shane Coleman, Krysten Coleman, Melissa (Sam) Lombardo; two great-grandchildren, Raelin Coleman, Gwynneth Lombardo; niece, Jamie Coleman; nephew, Jim Coleman; and great-niece, Sydnee Price.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene J. Hampson Coleman, who died December 4, 2007.
Friends will be received Friday, April 13, 2018, 6-9pm and Saturday, April 14, 2018, 9am-2pm, at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.
Fireman services will be held in the funeral home, Friday, at 8pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2pm in the funeral home with Rev. Parkhill, Rev. Yohe, and Rev. Fischer, celebrating. Burial will be private.
