Sophie Hrabchak, 94, of Canonsburg, died quietly at home, Tuesday, December 20, 2016.
She was born April 16, 1922, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late John and Mary Dedinski Tomigal.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Western Center, in Canonsburg. After retirement, she became a dedicated volunteer in the snack bar at the Canonsburg Hospital.
Ms. Hrabchak was an extraordinary seamstress, sewing everything from Majorette outfits to wedding gowns. Making halupki and nut rolls to give away made her happy as did singing and joking. She was a presence for so many who now conclude that heaven will never be the same.
Surviving are her daughters, Rosalind Polinski, Judy Delestienne, and Mary L. Huber; brothers, John and Albert Tomigal; sisters, Celia Black, Helen Cooper, and Barbara Schaeffer, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who all came to know her playful personality, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor A. Hrabchak, who died October 7, 1998; and her brother, Joseph Tomigal.
Friends will be received Tuesday, December 27, 1-7pm, at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.
