Martha M. Skowvron, 92, of New Castle passed away peacefully at her residence the morning of July 11, 2016 with her family around her.

Martha was born February 22, 1924 in Canonsburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Frances Borczyk Maslik. Martha was married to the late John J. Skowvron Jr., who preceded her in death on July 7, 1966. Martha was a graduate of Trinity High School in Washington Pa., class of 1942.

Martha will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at Liberty Mutual for 15 years in the data entry department. Martha was a member of the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, and the Most Blessed Sacrament Society for 50 years. She was an avid Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy fan. Martha loved solving crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and baking.

Martha is survived by three daughters, Barbara A St. Jean of New Castle, Sherri L. Firmi of New Wilmington, and Donna L. (Paul) Fortenberry of Baton Rouge, LA; two sons, John J. Skowvron of New Castle, and Barry A. (Shirley) Skowvron of Columbus, Oh.; sister, Florence Patrick of Canonsburg, PA; eleven grandchildren,: and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband John, she was preceded in death by her son, David J. Skowvron; two brothers, John and Walter Maslik; and a sister, Jennie Barsody.

Calling hours will be held Friday July 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 1708 S Jefferson Street.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Friday at Holy Trinity Polish National Church. The Very Rev. John Rencewicz III, pastor of Holy Trinity PNC Church will officiate. Additional calling hours will be held at the Sollon Funeral Home in Canonsburg, PA for 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, July 16, 2016. The Very Rev. Richard Seiler, pastor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will officiate.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Canonsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers the family is asking memorial donations to be made in her name to the UPMC Jameson Hospice.
