Leo D. Chesnic, 77, of Canonsburg, died Monday, April 18, 2016.
He was born November 9, 1938, in Strabane, a son of the late John and Frances Mahne Chesnic.
Mr. Chesnic had a passion for aviation, and loved flying. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an aircraft mechanic. Mr. Chesnic was a licensed commmercial pilot, and was a member of the Washington Flyers Club.
He was Catholic. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Chesnic was a member of the Labor Temple; American Legion, post 902; Veterans of Foreign Wars, post 553, of Strabane; Life member of the Canonsburg Sportsman's Club and a Life member of the SNPJ lodge 138.
Surviving are his brother, John Chesnic, and his wife, Sarah, of Newport Richey, Florida; sister, Mildred Hartmann, of Jefferson Hills; nieces and nephews, Sherie (Kevin) Ledandoski, John E. (Denise) Chesnic, Deborah Riley, Valerie (Keith) Kindlin, several great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.
A blessing service will be held Saturday at 10, in the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., followed by burial in the Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg, with full military rites accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars, post 191 Honor Guard.
